At EGP, we run Ladies', Men's and Mixed Leagues.

Box Leagues are only open to players who have held an active membership for at least three months and have a verified playing level from either Padellevels.io or a coach at the centre. Please do not apply to enter the leagues if you do not have a membership or a level. .

Box Leagues run in three seasons - Spring, Summer and Winter. Each Box League season culminates in a Finals Day which decides promotions and relegations as well as the Box League Champions. Finals Days are normally in the middle of April (Spring), the end of August (Summer) and the middle of December (Winter).

Each league contains four boxes of five and a Conference League. The Conference League is only the route of entry to the main box leagues. Conference League varies in size each season depending on entry numbers. QualiTeams in the Conference Leagues play four other pairs from the other teams in the league to win points and secure either automatic promotion to the main leagues or a chance to qualify via a play-off on Finals Day.

A full copy of the rules can be found here.

The entry form for Box Leagues can be accessed here. If the form is not active, it means that you are outside the window for entries.  When entering, please ensure that both you and your chosen partner or partners also complete the form as we can only accept matched entries.

If you wish to enter without a partner, you may do so but we cannot guarantee that there will be a suitable person to pair you with.

Any questions about Box Leagues should be emailed to boxadmin@eastgrinsteadpadel.com

At EGP we encourage all players to come to one of our levelling sessions in order be assessed by one of the coaching team. This allows you to be positioned within a broad 'bucket' of players of a similar ability and experience to you. Having a level will allow you to make and join Open Matches via the EGP App that are correctly levelled to ensure that you can meet and play with others in a fun, supportive and competitive way. Think of it as the oil that greases the gears of match-making at EGP. Having a level is also essential if you want to enter the EGP Box Leagues.

Our principal levelling platform is Padellevels and you can create an account on this platform via this link. Padellevels is an evolving platform that generates a level in the 1-7 range via a sophisticated and nuanced algorithm. It underpins all our external matches at EGP and also the Box Leagues. Our internal levelling system has a bi-directional relationship with Padellevels to keep everything up to date across the two platforms.

Levelling that is carried out by our coaches follows EGP Player Levelling Matrix which is a detailed framework from which we can derive a level in a consistent way across all of our playing cohort.

We want to stress that your level is not something to get too hung up on. As you play it will go up and it will go down based on your results and the results of others who you have played with and against in your time here. It should only ever serve as a guide and you should not feel that it defines you in any way. It's there to help you, not to hinder. The best piece of advice we can give you is to find a partner - or a selection of them - and stick with those people that you know and trust on court for matches where you want the scores to be recorded. Padel is, after all, a team sport and it makes sense to be sure about who is on your team before you step onto the playing field.

Finally, if you have a bad week and your level drops a bit and you can't get into a mix-in or a match that you could have the previous week, don't worry. Just give us a ring or drop us an email and explain the situation and we will more than likely add you manually. If you have any questions about levels or anything else, please do get in touch in the first instance via email on play@eastgrinsteadpadel.com
